Connective Team Coach, Six-Day Training Course, Next February 1st 2024

To discover
In this training course, you will discover how to engage your team(s) in team learning. You investigate what patterns could get in the way of employees contributing enthusiastically to your organization and how to break them. Each training block, we take time to exchange experiences and get tips from other participants in other organizations. We deal with theory about team learning, practical techniques, experiential exercises and conversation techniques. You gain experience with all that you have learned during the training.

To experience
You also experience a different way of approaching employees. You try out the effect of conversation techniques that promote self-organization and self-reliance among employees. You practice with all that you have learned during the training. This way, your backpack is optimally filled to get started in your own team(s) to make more of a difference. All the discussed elements of our 5-step team approach are playfully woven into the training.

Exam preparation
You get access to our online ExamTrainer. Here, you practice mock exam questions and prepare yourself optimally for the theoretical foundation exam. This allows us to spend more time in the classroom on experiential exercises and your specific questions.

Trainer
Your trainer is an experienced organizational coach who has guided various organizations. He/she has coached management teams, operational teams, product owners, and the organization in engaged collaboration towards a common goal.

Block 1, the Aspiration Wizard

This block we look at providing resources as a means of stimulating employee engagement to achieve better team results. You do this by putting human needs first. By putting dreams on the table. By offering space for self-organization. By exploring shared values. By accepting that you are part of the status quo, so the solution also implies work on your part.

We look critically at the gap between what we all strive for and what we actually do in our organizations. We look at the value of complainers. And we move from fire-fighting to proactive improvement.

In this block you work on the following challenges.

  Vital Craftsmanship, JD-R Model, Broaden-Build Effect and Growth Mindset;
• The Schizophrenic Organization
  Self-examination based on the Agile Manifesto;
• Utilizing the Whiner
  Visitor-Whiner-Customer and the Miracle Question, a practical view on positive coaching;
• Selling Self-Organization
  A management simulation;
• The Fire-Fighting Culture
  Systems thinking as a basis for self-examination in organizations, after the book The Fifth Discipline by Peter Senge;
• From A to Better
  Culture Scan, based on Lean and Bob Marshall’s Rightshifting model.

We also work on

• Exchanging knowledge with participants from other organizations;
• Facilitating and coaching teams (virtually);
• The effect of positive coaching on team learning;
• The Lean and Agile philosophy behind team learning;
• Increasing ownership and employee participation;
• Initiating and maintaining an improvement process led by the team(s).

Block 2: The Team Wizard

In this block we look at building self-organizing teams. You do this by doing more of what works. Work on realistic estimates, sustainable workloads, transparent delegation, understanding the growth stages of collaboration, and eliminating the frustrations of teamwork.

In this training, you’ll learn how teams grow, and what growing pains are a natural part of this process. You’ll also practice roadmaps and exercises to help your team(s) become more successful and take the next step in their growth into self-organizing, learning teams.

  Relative estimation and Weighted Shortest Job First prioritization according to SAFe®;
• Don’t Overload Your Team(s)
  Resource Utilization Trap and Lean Pull-principle simulation based on the Movie by Henrik Kniberg;
• Delegate Transparently
  Delegation Poker from the book Management 3.0 by Jurgen Appelo;
• Grow Your Team(s)
  Based on Tuckman’s work on team development;
• Dysfunctions of Teamwork
  Based on Patrick Lencioni’s book The 5 Dysfunctions Of a Team.

We also work on

• Facilitating and coaching teams (virtually);

Block 3: The Engagement Wizard

In this block we look at motivating your people. You do this by touching both the mind and the heart. By sitting on your hands effectively. By responding to needs with the right language. By entering into partnerships. By coloring outside the lines. And by making bottlenecks in knowledge and skills transparent.

You will learn how NOT to deal with resistance. Tailor your communication to the receiver, make use of his/her strengths and help compensate for weaknesses. Promote professional development and knowledge sharing.

  Motivational interviewing according to the book Coaching 3.0, part 1 (NL) by Sergio van der Pluim;
• Understanding Each Other’s Strengths and Pitfalls
  Personality Styles according to DISC, inspired by Merrick Rosenberg’s book Taking Flight
• How to Change, When Change is Hard
  The rider and elephant model, nine inspiring change strategies from Chip and Dan Heath’s Book Switch!;
• Cross-team Collaboration
  We investigate cross-team dynamics in the Saboteur simulation;
• Professional Development and Knowledge Sharing
  Getting Started with the Skills Compass;
• Roles and Hand-offs
  We investigate the effectiveness of hand-offs in the Kapla simulation.

We also work on

• Exchanging knowledge with participants from other organizations;
• Facilitating and coaching teams (virtually);
• The effect of positive coaching on team learning;
• The Lean and Agile philosophy behind team learning;
• Increasing ownership and employee participation;
• Initiating and maintaining an improvement process led by the team(s).

After following this training, you will be able to:

• Include your people in your approach based on a solid theoretical basis;
• Bringing teams to better collaboration through a backpack full of practical methods and simulations;
• Coach teams towards more self-organizing collaboration with targeted conversation techniques;
• To pass for the Connective Leadership – Engagement Wizard foundation certification.

Connective Teamcoach- foundation and practitioner certificate
The foundation certification validates your fundamental knowledge of the topics covered in this training and their application. You show that you understand the theory described in the books and training materials provided.

The practitioner certification validates you have successfully brought your skills into practice and gained experience in all five teamlearning areas.

Certifications
This training course is one of our various certification processes . Here you will find an overview of all our courses. You conclude each course with a certification process. In the theory part, you show that you have mastered the discussed theory and understand its coherence. In the practitioner part, you apply what you have learned in practice and show the effects achieved and your professional development in that regard.

We register our courses with the LVSC (Dutch National Association for Supervision and Coaching). The number of assigned Permanent Education (PE) points from the LVSC is stated for the currently registered courses.
